Deceptive Beauty - Holyrood

Pictured here is Holyrood Palace House, the official home to the British Monarch in Scotland. I have been to Edinburgh twice, but it wasn't until the second visit that I toured Holyrood. This was taken on the day of New Year's Eve, the skies were a portent of what was to come as the city's famous street celebration was shut down for rain and gale force winds, but the skies in this photo are so beautiful it's almost worth it to me. It helps I had been to a Hogmanay street party before.

That deceptive beauty is actually the reason behind the name of this photo. Those skies are beautiful but stormy at the same time. I've heard about Scotland (and many other places) if you don't like the weather, wait a minute, and there's some validity to that. During my time visiting the grounds of Holyrood, the sky changed constantly and covered a range of beauty and moody gray that I was happy to capture with my camera. I feel these amazing Scottish skies were perfectly suited to frame my photos of Holyrood's 17th century baroque architecture!
