Having visited Edinburgh twice, it holds a special place in my heart as does the beautiful castle pictured here. Edinburgh Castle sits at the top of the Royal Mile and I had to make one last walk up before going back to the hotel to pack.

I had planned on being there at dusk when the castle lights came on for my last photos, but I couldn't have asked for a better dusk than I got that evening.

This photo of Edinburgh castle was taken from the Esplanade. This is where a lot of events like the Military Tattoo take place. It was largely empty save a few people like me up there to see the view. I think those silhouettes provide a great sense of scale to that beautiful old castle.
