Looking back on my short time in Paris, I'm actually shocked that although the boats on the Seine feature in several of my images, I never experienced them as anything other than an observer, recording their movements along the scenic waterway through the heart of Paris.

One day I'll have to rectify that situation, but from a photographer's standpoint, I think I had the better view in this situation. My position on a bridge overlooking the Seine was not only more elevated (very helpful in capturing this scene), but on the boat, I couldn't photograph the boat in front of Notre Dame now could I?

I don't think I could have asked for anything more out of the moment, great light, not one, but two boats (look in the distance along the river), and an incredible sky full of clouds with great texture. I've said many times these are the kinds of skies I most prefer. Clear blue skies just don't have the drama you see in this picture!

One day I'll ride one of those boats for myself, but I think I've captured that leisurely feeling of being on a boat on the Seine rather well here. I bet the resulting photo brings a rush of memories to any who did actually have that experience of a cruise on the historic Seine.
