I'd like to say that I had planned to be in the bell tower atop the Iglesia la Merced in time for the late afternoon sun, but if it was anything other than chance, it was fate. I had heard the views of Granada's skyline from the church's bell tower was quite nice and as you can see from this picture, it lived up to those claims.

Even from up above the roof-tops, the color of the city is striking, but of course it's the dome of the church and its crucifix-topped cupola that steals the show in this photo. It's bathed in that great warm light so characteristic of the start and ending of our days. I definitely couldn't have time this better.
