The photos and art in this gallery are all from in and around the city of Mérida. I have been to Mexico several times now and Mérida twice, although my second visit to the Yucatan was but a brief stop. But that second visit and this collection of prints reminds me how much I liked the Yucatan in general and Mérida specifically. The people are incredibly nice and as these photos bear witness, they populate an incredibly vivid and colorful landscape. And the color includes both nature like the beautiful scenes you see here of the beaches at Celestún as well as the architecture. The people of Latin America are definitely unafraid of bright colors and each visit makes me wonder more and more why we strive for such bland and safe colors in our communities in the states. I find it hard to look at these pictures and feel anything but uplifted by the reds, the blues, the yellows and an array of pastels.

My first visit here was more or less a side-effect of frugality. I wanted to see the Mayan ruins and discovered I could fly to Mérida for free with my frequent flyer miles where I couldn't use them for nearer, more popular destinations. After visiting Mérida and the beautiful Yucatan, I can't tell you what a happy accident this was. Mérida is packed with colonial history and a great staging ground to see the more ancient Mayan past.

Speaking of the Mayan sites, this gallery has become so large, that I have since split things up a bit. There's a chance you may have linked to this gallery directly expecting to see those places as well. If that's the case, be sure to check out the Yucatan Maya ruins in their own gallery.

Even having split things up a bit, this gallery is still large and only a portion of my prints from Mérida. So, it's entirely possible you've seen other photos from the Yucatan that are not here right now or you may be interested in a companion piece for something you do see here? If so, don't hesitate to contact me and I can make more prints available on your request.

Similarly, if there's a customization in format that would make a print here fit your needs such as sizing to fit a particular frame or other application, etc., please contact me with details. I am always willing to work with you where possible to get a piece of art that best suits you.
