If you ever visit Saint Peter's in Rome, I have to say that the climb to the dome, if you are able, is a must. I had previously climbed saint Paul's in London. Although they were similar experiences, Saint Peter's was much more crowded. I'm sure when the church was built, they never imagined people paying to climb to the top of its great dome.I took several photos of the dome from the roof level, but this one just before I descended back to earth is my favorite, partially because of the great sky, but also because of the carpet-like red roof tiles and the people giving a little bit of perspective to this picture. This print for me is both a recording of incredible architecture and a great memory of that climb.
