Quite truthfully, if it's not something I planted (or have grown in the past), I have a hard time identifying flowers. I believe the brilliant yellow flower in this photo is a daisy, but I will happily accept a correction if one is forthcoming!
Nonetheless, the photo this textured work is based on was taken during a trip to Northern California, and I still remember how bright and sunny those fields were that day. All the flowers shone in the light as if they were radiating a little bit of our sun.
It was that brilliant light that I wanted to emphasize when I added textural layers to this photo to give it a painterly feeling. I love the soft natural colors and the amazing light that was captured in the original, but the textures that I spent some time perfecting really complete this and make it quite unique in my eyes.
