The High - Atlanta

Amongst my fond memories of Georgia's largest city is Atlanta’s High Museum. I first visited this museum on a field trip in high school. It's definitely a must-see building, both for the incredible collection housed there as well as the stunning modern architecture. Atlanta is lucky to have a world class museum, and that is because of a long history of art-minded civic leaders dating back to 1905 when the seeds for the current museum were laid.

The current building pictured here was built in 1983 as the collection of art was outgrowing the existing facilities. The new building was designed by architect, Richard Meier, who has designed a number of well known buildings.

I considered this photo another in my Atlanta Icon series of prints - places that I felt made up the landmarks of the metro area. This one was is special to me as it was taken during my last week living in the city.
