The photos in these galleries all focus on rural America. But I have to say that the dividing line between great outdoors and small town is very ethereal. In fact, if you enjoy Americana in general, I'd suggest checking out all these galleries as I have pictures, for example, from Salem, Massachusetts, in my small town gallery. And that was all about more of a feeling than a population count.

The photos of the great outdoors are generally pictures where the focus is mainly on nature. There may be a small house or a lighthouse or some other human element but the scene is generally about the genuine beauty of nature.

As I have a lot of scenes from home, ie. Macon County, Georgia, I finally felt it was worth giving it its own gallery if just to make the other galleries feel a little less crowded, but this was not done to discourage lovers of small towns, rural places, and Americana like myself. If you enjoy those things, I really do hope you'll take a virtual stroll through all these galleries and see the beauty that these vanishing small places have to offer.
